Hailea piston pumps whilst not the quietest pump around they offer good value for money .

Our assessment would be that they are reasonably quiet when running into a highish load,the noise level tends to vary a little (They are slightly noisier when running into a very light load)

If you had one running near your pond with perhaps the sound of running water returning and you were not sitting right next to it intrusion if any would be minimal.

They are not as quiet as the cased diaphragm models we sell, and they are also not weather proof unlike the other models

Outside Use

Manufacturers recommendations are to install away from high temperatures, direct sunshine, or in damp or dusty conditions.

OUR RECOMMENDATIONS
If you run the piston pumps outside we would recommend that you install in a well ventilated enclosure keeping the pump dry and keeping the worst of the weather at bay, also above ground level to prevent dust and debris blowing around the intake filter on windy days, and perhaps check / clean the filter more regularly. (we would generally recommend this for all pumps sited outside including fully weather proofed types).

The input air filter is not so water proofed against the elements as the super silent Diaphragm models we sell.

Please Note:

You can easily damage Air Pumps by either running a too powerful air pump in not enough depth of water or not enough air stones etc etc, or an under powered air pump in too much depth of water  both can cause early failure or problems, by either causing too greater back pressure or not creating enough back pressure.
