Today we went to Ueno Koi Farm, and to get there we always catch the Shinkansen from Kurume to Shin-Tamana, where Ueno San picks us up and takes us to his farm.Ive said this on so many occasions before, that due to us visiting fewer breeders and in some cases smaller breeders has now over the years enable us to build up very good and strong relationship’s with them, which makes the whole purchasing of Koi far more pleasurable than what you may get by just going here there and everywhere. Ueno San is one of those said breeders and it’s always an absolute please spending a day on his farm and a breeder along with Okawa we will never stop visiting.
Ive learnt over the years never go to Japan with expectations of what you want,all you can do is go there and select the best possible koi on any given day you are on the farms and Ueno Koi Farm is no different, for example we perhaps expected to go there this year to purchase Tosai as we had other years, but unfortunately we didn’t select any this time due to them being a touch to small only 15-18cm when we really required 25cm plus as he had not really grown them much yet, but we ended purchasing some fabulous Nisai from him including some outstanding Ochiba,Soragoi, with fantastic scalation, super clean Hi Utsuri,Stunning white Tancho Sanke,and 4 superb Showa, so in reality we still left the farm very happy indeed,
